Research Community

This project is associated with the Decolonial Feminist Forum at Birkbeck College, University of London. Within the forum we continue to discuss questions around inclusion and equality across contexts, which inform this project.

A series of collaborative writing sessions and public panel discussions were held in 2022 under the auspices of BIRMAC, the home of Interdisciplinary Research in Media and Culture at Birkbeck and in association with Art Monthly Magazine. This part of the project was funded by a Faculty Research Grant awarded by the Center for Human Rights and the Arts, Bard College, within the OSUN network.

‘And Others’ is also informed by the extensive research and conversations held in the Summer of 2020, with colleagues at Kuda.org, Novi Sad, Serbia, and their network, leading to the publication  Fragments for Studies on Art Organizations. Their long-term project entitled Art Organisation has been exploring (self) organisation, group action and working conditions (collective production and collective generation) of ‘non-institutional’ artistic practices in the Yugoslav and post-Yugoslav space. The extensive body of research (interviews with artists, art historians, theoreticians) gathered as part of this project between 2017 and 2019 has been extremely valuable source for ‘And Others’, and is being analysed alongside new interviews I am conducting.
